This is one of my all time favorite beers. It is a strong ale coming in at over 10%ABV. The rich malty body and flavors with that strong peated smokey flavor. It has a thin dark head and as you see a dark look. Not as dark as a porter but close. I am actually not a huge Sam Adams fan but their four pack imperial series and their barrel collections have brought me around.

So this is a kind of stand by beer for me during these fall months. Very drinkable, a solid octoberfest beer. Nice malty and caramel flavors rolling over the tongue. Very light hops. Not a large head after the pour, this picture doesn't really show that as I already took a swig. Nothing exciting or experimental but a good beer for drinking and grilling up those brats (the sausage not your neighbors kids). I would recommend this to those who are interested in getting into mirocbrews but not ready for hardcore experimental or strong ales.
I have this around for general drinking when I'm not trying something new.

Getting Started
Okay. I have been asked by a few people to start a blog on one of my favorite subjects, namely beer. This site will allow whomever to follow me on my exploits concerning all that "ales" me. I can usually spend any given moment talking nonstop about ales, lagers, stouts, saisons, IPAs, porters, and any other "category" of ale that is out there. Now lets see if I can type about it!
