Zombie Killer from B. Nektar

I usually don't rant about non-beer but this caught my eye and I do like Mead and honey wines.  This was really good. The cherry juices give it a bit of spunk.  Something I would expect from a well aged Belgian style ale. Very lite and drinkable.  For people who like cinders and such, I would recommend this.  It is an apple-honey wine.  At only 6% ABV, you can drink a few!

Newcastle's Summer Ale

Medium amber in color. A lighter brown ale in my opinion,  a little bit of bitterness in the middle and finish. Not a bad summer brew but I won't buy a lot of it this summer.

Bull Jager Big Claw

Labeled as a pilsner and it doesn't disappoint. A nice head built, low to medium hopping in the scent and flavor. A bit creamy to the body. Not your light pale crap from most American pilsners. I will be picking up more of this for this summer.  I am always excited to find a good local beer for summer!

Moat Mountain Bone Shaker Brown

Nothing fancy here. Thin head. Dark amber color. Good malty flavor. A good standard brown brew. If I am looking for something with no frills but a good campfire beer I would look to this. At 5.4 abv you can drink a few and still be okay!

Other Stuff

So many of you know I don't just love beer but I am a "font of useless information" concerning alcohol in general.  I recently tried the new local artisan distillery (New England  Distillery http://www.newenglanddistilling.com/spirits/gin/) gin called Ingenium.  I tried it neat, it had a distinct flavor of Tequila to me.  The tell-tale flavor of juniper, that to me marks Gin as Gin, was not overly present.  I was disappointed to say the least.  I will try this gin again, I will not give up.  I love to support new local industry, especially in the form of alcohol. Hopefully I can like this gin as much as I love Cold River Gin (I drool just thinking of it).

Middle Ages Dragon Slayer

Beyond a cool name, this is a rich and harty imperial stout. A very dark and thick head rests for a long time before settling.  Malty goodness rises from for the nose, with coffee scents within. Flavors of caramel and coffee are at the front a hint of bitter chocolate on the finish.

Mcchouffe Begian Brown Ale

Big head, lots of lacing. Very dark brown color. Scents of banana and citrus. Flavor was not tart or sour like most Belgians.  Banana and citrus remain in the flavor.  Thick maltiness to the body and flavor. Not really what I expected from a Belgian. Reminds me of a really good strong American brown ale. 8.5abv, so don't expect to put too many down despite the great drinkable qualities.
